Skills
- Production experience building data systems in cloud environments (AWS preferred)
- Hands-on ability to read and review code in Python and/or Go
- Strong data modeling and data quality framework knowledge
- Experience with modern data warehouses (Snowflake or BigQuery)
- Familiarity with pipeline tooling (Dagster, dbt) and CI/CD practices
- Observability across service and data layers (metrics, tracing, lineage)
- Cross-functional collaboration with Product and Analytics
- SLO-driven operational experience and incident management
- Ability to hire, mentor, and develop engineering talent
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and grow a team of software and data engineers with regular 1:1s, feedback, and career planning
- Own architecture and technical direction for protocol indexers and data pipelines (Python, Go)
- Design for scalability, observability, cost efficiency, testing, and reliability
- Define data contracts and schemas with downstream consumers and enforce data SLAs
- Plan for chain-specific realities: reorgs, forks/upgrades, backfills, and catch-up strategies
- Partner with Product, Data Science, and Data Availability to prioritize business-impacting work
- Translate roadmap into measurable outcomes and advocate for platform investments
- Manage team planning using Kanban principles; monitor cycle time and lead time
- Define and meet SLOs for data freshness, accuracy, and coverage
- Drive incident response, postmortems, and preventative improvements
- Foster an inclusive, psychologically safe team culture and run effective retrospectives
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or equivalent experience
