Description
We're seeking Wound Care Registered Nurse, responsible for providing clinical resources in a variety of patient care departments throughout an EHC operating unit/facility. This individual is a capable clinician who has acquired broad experience in caring for patients, and has developed a sound understanding about the care of a particular patient population. This individual:
- Directs agency-wide initiatives for pressure ulcer prevention, wound care and ostomy care, to include supporting pressure ulcer prevalence data collection, evidence-based policies, procedures, and protocols, and advisement of appropriate support surfaces, products, and staff decision-making algorithms.
- Develops and conducts educational programs and clinical instruction for Emory Healthcare staff and students enrolled in Emory Universitys Wound Ostomy Continence Education Program.
- Provides advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff regarding the management of complex wounds, fistulas, moisture management, and pressure ulcers.
- Determines appropriate nursing interventions for identified patient problems, symptoms, and teaching needs in respect to wound and ostomy care.
- Recommends the equipment, materials, and resources needed to successfully implement a wound or ostomy care plan.
- Performs appropriate pre-operative stoma site marking and ostomy education. Develops and conducts post-operative ostomy education and ostomy care plan for the patient and family.
- Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) AND Completion of an accredited WOC Nursing Education program.
Experience:
- Two years experience as an RN License: Must have a valid, active unencumbered Nursing license approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.
Certification:
1. BLS certification
2. ACLS may be required in designated departments.
3. Must achieve certification in Wound Care and Ostomy Care within 12 months.
Preferred Qualifications / Certification:
- Certification in Continence Care is not required, but preferred.
Experience:
- Previous experience in Wound and Ostomy care preferred.
