Software Engineering Co-op (UI/UX & Frontend)

DropletPharma is developing two microscale devices to vastly accelerate radiopharmaceutical discovery and production and execute our vision to drastically improve health outcomes. As part of this mission, our software bridges complex scientific hardware and human intuition — making advanced radiopharmaceutical workflows accessible, safe, and efficient.

As a UI/UX Designer and Frontend Developer, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how scientists and engineers interact with our two flagship systems. You will design, prototype, and implement user interfaces that make sophisticated hardware operations intuitive and responsive. Your work will directly influence how our users experience DropletPharma’s technology and will be closely integrated with our engineering and software development teams.

This is an on-site position at our Los Angeles headquarters, working in close coordination with engineers developing the physical systems.

What you will have ownership over:

·       Lead the UX research and design process for both flagship systems, from wireframes and prototypes to final UI.

·       Gather and synthesize user feedback to inform design decisions and system improvements.

·       Translate complex scientific workflows into clean, intuitive user interfaces.

·       Implement responsive, maintainable frontend code in collaboration with backend developers.

·       Contribute to frontend architecture and data visualization components.

·       Collaborate with backend and hardware engineers to ensure smooth integration of UI with system APIs and hardware control.

·       Pursuing B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or related field.

·       3+ years of professional / project experience in UI/UX design and frontend development.

·       Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS (React preferred).

·       Familiarity with Python.

·       Experience with UI/UX design tools (e.g., Figma).

·       Experience designing complex systems or scientific/engineering tools is a plus.

·       Familiarity with SQL and API-driven architectures.

·       GitHub and collaboration experience.

DropletPharma aims to provide competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits to our employees. We expect this position to be a regular, full-time position, with an hourly salary of $35-40 / hour depending on your experience and education.
