      About you and this role

      Dow has an exciting opening for the next Run Plant Engineer in Carrollton, KY!

      As the Run Plant Engineer, you will serve as a vital resource for Operations by applying technical skills to optimize plant operations, resolve plant problems, and enable safe and efficient production of low cost, quality products. Requires conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures within job discipline. Performs routine assignments and solves standard problems using existing procedures. Applies general knowledge of business developed through education or past experience.

      Responsibilities

      • Work closely with the operations team leveraging their problem-solving skills and technical expertise.
      • Elevate and appropriately apply knowledge of the plant and technology referencing historical data and conferring with Technology Center or other subject matter experts (SMEs).
      • Ensure Most Effective Technology (MET) is understood and utilized and that process automation is used as a tool to optimize plant performance.
      • Utilize defined MET and challenges/escalates MET application and assumptions when better solutions arise.
      • Partner with experts to perform advanced troubleshooting and improve and document operating discipline.
      • Diagnose and document root causes of asset utilization losses in the facility.
      • Understand why specific procedure steps and precautions are needed and keeps a strong field presence to reinforce the importance.
      • Conduct daily review of logbook and alarm history to better understand the plant operation and stay engaged with daily activities.
      • Maintain, own, and review daily Key Process Indicators (KPI)/ trends to ensure optimum performance.
      • Respond urgently to plant issues and emergencies.
      • Act as a unit technical expert during unplanned events and drives implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions.
      • Provide leadership, expertise, diagnosis, and optimization in plant Raw Material Efficiency, which may include yield or waste generation.

      Required Qualifications

      • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in an engineering field is required.
      • Must be able to work full time on-site.

      • Essential functions of this position may require, among other things, that the employee use particular types of equipment -- such as on-site safety equipment that has specific weight limitations whereby the individual’s own weight, plus the weight of tools and other items and materials, must not exceed a certain threshold. (For example, some types of safety equipment may be rated for a maximum weight limit of 300 pounds total.) In the event a job offer for this position were (conditionally) extended and provides for a pre-employment medical examination, the individual will be appropriately evaluated regarding their ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
      • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Chemical engineering degree is preferred.
      • 2 years of relevant industrial/engineering experience is preferred (recent college graduates will still be considered).

      Skills

      • Technical Problem Solving: The role requires diagnosing root causes of asset utilization losses, responding to plant issues, and implementing corrective actions. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills are critical.
      • Process Optimization: A deep understanding of Most Effective Technology (MET) is necessary to optimize plant performance and ensure efficient production.
      • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with operations teams and subject matter experts (SMEs) is a core part of the job. Effective communication and collaboration skills are vital.
      • Data Analysis and KPI Monitoring: The engineer must maintain and review Key Process Indicators (KPIs) daily, interpret trends, and use historical data to inform decisions—requiring strong data literacy.
      • Regulatory and Safety Compliance: Ensuring compliance with operating permits and maintaining a strong field presence to reinforce safety procedures highlights the need for knowledge of regulatory standards and a commitment to safety.
