Job Description

The Division Credit Manager is responsible for overseeing credit activities across a division or group of business units. This role manages a team of credit professionals—including a Credit Manager and several Credit Analysts—who support the division’s customer base. The Division Credit Manager, position is responsible for overseeing the credit granting process for their respective business units, including the consistent application of a credit policy, periodic credit reviews of existing customers. This position will report to the Corporate Credit Manager and be responsible for developing and implementing standards for the assessment of the creditworthiness of potential customers, with the goal of optimizing the mix of company sales and bad debt losses.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, promoting professional growth and development through goal setting and regular performance reviews.
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the credit processes while reducing risk.
  • Work with business unit finance as necessary to standardize payment terms.
  • Accept or reject credit recommendations forwarded by the credit staff
  • Set and approve credit limits and terms within delegated authority; escalate exceptions as appropriate.
  • Cultivate relationships with Customers and Sales Leadership
  • Conduct on-site visits with the largest customers
  • Monitor industry trends
  • Ensure adherence to corporate credit policy and recommend policy updates based on market conditions and internal needs.
  • Work with Corporate Credit Manager to develop and deliver regular reports on key credit metrics including risk exposure, new accounts, and credit reviews

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Accounting preferred, but not required
  •  10+ years' work experience in the credit-granting field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with lien and bond claim processes
  • The ability to initiate and implement change – comfortable in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong results orientation with a track record of meeting or exceeding business objectives
  • A team player who is collaborative and receptive to ideas from others and works effectively across functions to identify and resolve critical issues
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to interact successfully with internal and external customers
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency
