Business Intelligence Developer (Tableau & Power BI) - (1099 Independent Contractor - US - Remote)

CompassX is seeking a Business Intelligence Developer with experience across Tableau and Power BI to support dashboard delivery. This role will focus on dashboard development, data validation, and collaboration with stakeholders in a fast-moving consulting environment.

This is likely an initial 2-3 month contract, but could be extended through great delivery.

We are open to two types of candidates:

Tableau and Power BI Developer: Strong in both Tableau and Power BI and able to create dashboards proficiently in both tools.

Power BI-first Developer: Strong in building Power BI dashboards and some exposure to Tableau.

• Build, enhance, and maintain dashboards in Tableau and/or Power BI
• Support and modify existing dashboards, including working with underlying SQL and calculations
• Translate business requirements and wireframes into effective visualizations
• Develop and optimize DAX measures (Power BI)
• Use SQL for data validation, profiling, and troubleshooting
• Own work from requirements through development and quality checks
• Collaborate with consultants and stakeholders to iterate on reporting solutions

• Degree-qualified in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
• Hands-on experience with Tableau and Power BI, and ideally able to build in both environments
• Strong SQL skills
• Experience supporting existing BI environments, not just greenfield builds
• Ability to organize and clarify business requirements
• Comfortable working independently in a project-based consulting role
• Clear communication and stakeholder-facing skills

This is an independent contractor position; the rate will vary based on experience. This will be on a 1099 contractor basis. CompassX is unable to provide visa sponsorship. However, we can engage consultants who hold valid work authorization through a third-party employer (e.g., H-1B holders contracting through their sponsoring employer).
