Compensation

The pay range above represents the lowest possible rate for the position and the highest possible rate. Factors that may be used to determine where newly hired employees will be placed in the pay range include the employee specific skills and qualifications, relevant years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most often, a newly hired employee will be placed below the midpoint of the range.

Pay for PRN positions is calculated differently than Full-Time, Regular Part-Time, and Part-Time positions. PRN Rates depend on the position and other factors, including years of experience, or shift commitment according to the department policy. PRN differential is added in certain positions.

Responsibilities

Position Overview:

The Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for leading safe, engaging, and effective fitness classes for a diverse group of participants, promoting overall wellness, fitness, and community engagement. The Group Fitness Instructor exhibits a passion for health and fitness, adapts to various skill levels, and is committed to providing an exceptional class experience for the members of the Wellness & Fitness Center and the community at large. 

Qualifications

Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Current Group Fitness Instructor certification from a nationally recognized organization (e.g., ACE, AFAA, NASM, ACSM)
• Basic Life Support Certification, or able to obtain within thirty (30) days from hire date

Preferred: 

• Personal training certification
• Prior experience teaching group fitness classes
• Experience teaching multiple formats (strength, cardio/aerobic, fusion fitness, etc.)
• Ability to customize classes for special populations (beginners, seniors, post-rehabilitation, etc.)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to lead and motivate diverse groups of people in a positive and supportive way
