City Year is seeking a Learning & Instructional Coach to enhance academic and behavioral support across partner schools in Los Angeles. This role involves direct coaching of AmeriCorps Members and collaboration with educational staff to improve instructional practices.
Responsibilities: Support AmeriCorps Members in implementing academic and behavioral interventions, conduct observations and training, and collaborate with program staff to improve educational outcomes.
Skills: Strong communication, relationship-building abilities, flexibility, problem-solving skills, and experience with adult learning theory.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, 3+ years of classroom teaching, experience in ELA and Math instruction, familiarity with Common Core Standards, and data-driven problem-solving capabilities.

Position Overview
Reporting to the Sr. Learning and Instructional Coach, the Learning and Instructional Coach is responsible for supporting the quality of City Year LA’s (CYLA) Attendance, Behavior, Math, and English Language Arts (ELA) supports during the school day and after school in ~20+ schools across Los Angeles Unified School District and other partner districts. This person will typically be 60% field based, working at one of our partner schools (Elementary, Middle, or High Schools), and 40% based hybrid at our CYLA office or remote. The Learning and Instructional Coach ensures that AmeriCorps Members (ACMs) who work directly with students and their staff Program Managers have the training, coaching, and support they need to deliver meaningful academic and behavioral interventions.
This role is ideal for a quality coach and educator who is looking for an opportunity to expand their impact working with our young future leaders to support improving our education system towards more just and equitable outcomes for all students.
