The Resident Services, Partnerships, and Initiatives (RSPI) encompasses six (6) departments that engage NYCHA residents in critical programs, services, and initiatives in the areas of economic opportunity, youth, senior and social services; supports NYCHA’s extensive network of Resident Associations; and connects residents to opportunities such as financial empowerment, business development, career advancement, and educational programs.
Family Partnerships (FPD), one of Resident Services’ two (2) departments under RSPI, connects residents to critical services and implements programs and policies that support household stability, tenancy, individual advancement, and aging-in-place. FPD identifies and engages with external providers and City agencies offering youth, senior, and social services. Furthermore, FPD reunites families with justice history.
Resident Services seeks an experienced Social Worker to support its Family Partnerships Department, including the Family Reentry team. Reporting to the Family Partnerships’ Social Work Supervisor II, responsibilities of the Social Worker include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Maintain detailed documentation of client caseload and case notes including the tracking of resident-related interactions through a digital case management system and pulling reports and
data upon request.
2. Travel for individual and joint home visits to conduct in-person assessments of resident’s social service needs, make linkages and referrals and partner with sister departments within Resident Services, Partnerships, and Initiatives and other relevant stakeholders to address the resident needs.
3. Conduct home visits and eligibility assessment of resident-applicants into the NYCHA Family Re-Entry Program.
4. Provide ongoing oversight for families who accept Re-Entry services, provide monthly check-in to Family Re-Entry participants and families, complete assessment of families’ needs during
the 2-year oversight period and develop a service plan.
5. Coordinate regularly with external social services partners and providers, including Adult Protective Services (APS), Administration for Child Services (ACS), Department of Social
Services (DSS), Human Resource Administration (HRA) and a variety of Community-based Organizations (CBOs).
6. Develop collaborative partnerships with NYCHA staff and community-based organizations, maintain a thorough understanding of citywide, borough-wide and development-specific
programs to ensure referral to the best possible services.
7. Conduct community outreach, promote Family Re-Entry services, organize events, provide presentations and recommendations.
8. Attend and conduct regularly scheduled meetings in the criminal justice arena and partner organizations as appropriate, for the purpose of reviewing progress and sharing
recommendations.
9. Remain well-informed and provide regular updates on trends affecting NYCHA residents and the surrounding communities particularly as it pertains to criminal justice.
10. Perform additional related duties as needed.

1. Due to the existence of a civil service list, candidates must have permanent civil service status in the title of Social Worker to be considered

Qualification Requirements
A Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work.
License Requirements
You will be required to have a valid Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license issued by the New York State Department of Education within one year of the date of appointment. This license must be presented to the appointing officer at the time of appointment or, if it is obtained after appointment, at the time it is received. This license must be maintained for the duration of your employment.
If you fail to obtain your LMSW or LCSW license within one year of the date of appointment, your probationary period will be automatically extended for six months. If you fail to obtain the required license by the end of 18 months of service, you will be terminated.
