Overview

The Children’s Mercy Research Institute is recruiting two Research Associates to join the Formative Research Team in the Population Health Area of Emphasis.

The Formative Research Team works with interdisciplinary teams throughout Children’s Mercy, academic affiliations (UMKC, KUMC) and community partners to promote the use of rigorous formative research in the design and evaluation of new health interventions. Through technical consultations, trainings and large project collaborations, the Formative Research Team applies expertise in qualitative research, mixed-methods research and applications of social and behavioral theory to the health sciences.  There is also opportunity to contribute to management, analyses, and publications of studies within the Formative Research Team or Social and Behavioral Sciences portfolios.

If you are selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Advising health professionals in formative research methods (qualitative methods and survey design)
  • Designing in-depth interview and focus group guides
  • Conducting in-depth interviews and focus group discussions
  • Analyzing qualitative data
  • Critically reviewing or contributing to grant proposals and IRB protocols
  • Coordinating and contributing to institution-wide training
  • Contributing to publications

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health, Psychology, or Related Field
  • Demonstrated experience with qualitative data collection and analysis
  • Skills in formative research design (e.g. generating research questions, selecting methods)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams with a range of professionals in the health sciences
  • Knowledge of social and behavioral theories as applied to the health sciences
  • Experience with qualitative analysis and survey management software (Dedoose, REDCap, or similar programs)
  • Strong writing skills
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion

Candidates with the following qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • PhD in Public Health, Psychology, or Related Field
  • History of peer-reviewed publications
  • Spanish-language skills

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $29.82/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

 

 

Remote Work/Work from Home

This is an intermittent remote position, which means that the person hired will work with his or her manager to determine a schedule that includes both at home and on-site hours at a Children’s Mercy location. The incumbent must live in the Kansas City metro area.
