Staff Accountant
Position Summary:
Chestnut Carbon is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to support our growing finance and accounting operations. This is a high-impact role that will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records as we scale our nature-based carbon removal initiatives. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for general ledger maintenance, transaction processing, reconciliations, and reporting. - Prepare and record journal entries including accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, intercompany transactions.
- Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and end-year close process.
- Process accounts payable invoices, expenses, and credit card charges in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist with invoicing, processing and reconciling deposits, receipts and disbursements.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and internal management reports.
- Support annual audits and tax filings by preparing requested schedules and documentation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records, files, and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, documentation, and automation.
- Work closely with other departments on special projects or routine tasks to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting.
