Skills
- Strong proficiency in SQL and T-SQL development and optimization
- Hands-on experience administering SQL Server (indexes, statistics, backups, restores)
- Proven experience with Azure Databricks administration (clusters, jobs, workspaces)
- Experience integrating Databricks with Azure Data Factory and Data Lake
- Performance tuning and optimization using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
- Familiarity with monitoring, securing Databricks resources, and library management
- Experience automating deployments and workflows via CI/CD pipelines
- Knowledge of data governance, data lineage, and compliance (HIPAA)
- Troubleshooting and incident response experience in production environments
Responsibilities
- Administer production database operations and ensure schedules and resource utilization are met
- Manage and maintain Azure Databricks workspaces, clusters, jobs, libraries, and permissions
- Troubleshoot and resolve database and Databricks production issues and coordinate remediation
- Implement performance tuning, monitoring, and optimization for SQL Server and Databricks
- Ensure high availability, capacity management, and optimized resource utilization
- Support incident management and restoration of services activities
- Lead root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes across SQL Server and Databricks
- Collaborate with data engineering to manage ADF pipelines, data ingestion, and integrations
- Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, HIPAA, and data governance standards
- Adhere to separation of duties and other operational controls
Education
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
- Or Bachelor’s Degree in related field plus at least five years of relevant experience (accepted in lieu of Master’s + 3 years)
