As a Research Lab Program Manager II in the Elias Lab, focused on ovarian cancer research, you will play a key role in translational studies emphasizing early detection and disease prediction. This position involves both bench science and clinical data analysis. You will manage research protocols, regulatory and grant documents, and develop workflows to ensure accurate data collection and compliance. Collaborating closely with the Principal Investigator and clinical team, you will serve as a liaison among stakeholders, mentor new team members, participate in budget development, and assist with grant writing, including NIH human regulatory components. You will extract and compile clinical data for publications while helping shape the culture and operations of the new Cleveland lab, playing a central role in advancing research through collaboration and program support. A caregiver in this role works days from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
With guidance from the Principal Investigator, initiate and manage various research protocols and plans, including maintenance of regulatory documents, patient files and grant-related documents.
Develop workflows for human research and/or bench top studies to ensure accurate data collection and entry into compliant databases.
Assist in protocol writing.
Collaborate with the Principal Investigator to design and create research plans and methods.
Assist with experiments and lab procedures.
Support graduate students and postdocs with materials and prep.
Serve as a liaison between the Principal Investigator, patients, clinical team and other research team members outside the laboratory.
Mentor and coach new members of the research team.
Participate in budget development, including budgets for various grants.
Extract data from the electronic medical record (EMR) and compile it into Excel for publications and analysis.
Assist with major grant writing protocols and components, especially for NIH human regulatory components.
Develop, implement, and manage grant-funded research study protocols and day-to-day research activities in medium-sized or moderately complex laboratory and clinical settings, with guidance from the Principal Investigator.
Analyze research study findings and share and interpret data with the Principal Investigator.
Manage multiple priorities and projects with competing deadlines.
Allocate time effectively to meet completion requirements.
Attend monthly lab outings and conferences.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor’s degree in science, healthcare administration, public health, or related field and three or more years in lab management, project management, or research operations (obtained by working directly for a Principal Investigator in a basic or translational research laboratory) OR Master’s degree and two years of experience
Knowledge of research policies and procedures, and ability to develop research plans and/or protocols
Knowledge and expertise in federal, state, local and institutional research guidelines
Ability to implement requirements in the research laboratory
Technical lab experience

Physical Requirements:
Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
