The individual will be responsible for defining and operationalizing robust data management frameworks, in alignment with corporate governance and business intelligence needs.

This role emphasizes deep expertise in enterprise data storage technologies, particularly NetApp File Servers, GRID architecture, FabricPool, and AWS FSxN along with a broader understanding of PURE Storage, Dell EMC and Broadcom Fabric Switch ecosystems. The position will ensure that R&D, Manufacturing, and Enterprise data assets are efficiently captured, validated, stored, and made accessible for enterprise use, working in collaboration with internal data stewards, engineering teams, and a managed services partner (HCL).

Core Responsibilities:

1. Data Product Architecture and Delivery

  • Lead a team of data quality professionals focused on enhancing reliability, usability, and accessibility of enterprise data products across the R&D domain.

  • Partner with data engineering and business stakeholders to shape architectural decisions and deliver high-value data products.

  • Ensure storage architecture aligns with data quality frameworks and supports analytical/reporting needs across structured and semi-structured formats.

  • Deliver technical oversight in storage provisioning, tiering strategies, and workload placement based on business consumption patterns.

2. Enterprise Data Storage & Lifecycle Management

  • Act as the technical authority for enterprise-scale storage systems including NetApp AFF and FAS systems, NetApp GRID (StorageGRID), and FabricPool tiering to cloud object storage.

  • Design and implement data lifecycle policies across hot, warm, and cold data storage tiers to optimize performance, cost, and compliance.

  • Manage hybrid storage infrastructures integrating NetApp, PURE Storage, and Dell EMC, ensuring availability, scalability, and security of global storage services.

  • Define backup, archiving, and disaster recovery standards in collaboration with infrastructure and security teams.

3. Data Quality and Governance

  • Drive adoption and enforcement of enterprise data quality frameworks, metadata standards, and governance policies.

  • Oversee cataloging, lineage, access control, and usage auditing for all R&D information assets.

  • Collaborate with Data Stewards and Owners to remediate data quality issues across platforms and develop preventive strategies.

4. Partner & Vendor Management

  • Act as the principal liaison to managed service providers (e.g., HCL) for storage operations, ensuring SLAs and KPIs are met.

  • Lead vendor engagements, product evaluations, and lifecycle planning for storage technologies and support renewals or migrations.

Required Technical Experience:

  • NetApp File Services (CIFS/NFS) and snapshot-based protection.

  • Expertise with NetApp StorageGRID, including object lifecycle policies, global namespace, and metadata management.

  • Deep understanding of NetApp FabricPool: configuration, monitoring, and integration with AWS S3, Azure Blob, or on-prem object stores.

  • Experience with ONTAP, SnapMirror, SnapVault, and performance tuning in a multi-tenant environment.

  • Hands-on with PURE FlashArray and Dell EMC PowerMax, PowerStore, and PowerFlex including data movement and tiering policies.

  • Familiarity with storage monitoring tools (e.g., Active IQ, Cloud Insights, Pure1) and integration with ITSM/CMDB systems.

Leadership & Soft Skills:

  • Proven experience leading technical teams and managing complex cross-functional initiatives in a matrixed environment.

  • Strong communication skills with ability to translate between technical and business contexts.

  • Experience driving culture of accountability, documentation, and continuous improvement in storage and data operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The successful candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree or relevant work history

  • 8+ years in enterprise data management, with at least 3 years of hands-on experience with NetApp enterprise solutions.
