ENGINEERING PROJECT COORDINATOR

Position Title: Engineering Project Coordinator

Department: Electric Operation & Engineering/Engineering Design

Reports to: Mgr of Engineering 

Supervision Received: Limited Supervision

Supervision Exercised: None

FLSA Status: Non Exempt

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and direct the design phase of assigned projects to ensure that negotiated delivery dates are met for cost estimates, road crossing plans, and contractual documents
• Coordinate with construction supervisors to ensure that negotiated in service dates are met for assigned projects.
• Manage project timeline and inform customers and agencies of project progress from inception to completion.
• Ensure that easements and right-of-way are acquired when necessary. 
• Consult with members, consumers, developers, builders, and agencies concerning requirements for service or adjustments to facilities in a positive, courteous, and professional manner.
• Effectively estimate and manage project costs
• Assess load requirements, evaluate environmental constraints, and identify project requirements (permits, easements, fees, etc).
• Interpret survey data, plan, and deed information.
• Prepare contractual documents and reimbursement estimates for highway projects as required.
• Continually develop and recommend more efficient and effective ways to provide new service to customers.
• Must be able to appropriately handle confidential information and act within the practices established by the Bluebonnet Red Flag policy.

Tools and Equipment Used:

• Office Equipment including computer, printer, copier, fax, etc.
• May be required to drive a cooperative vehicle. 
• According to established business needs, must maintain a mobile phone and an appropriate communication plan.

Physical Demands:

• Requires repetitive motion of hands and fingers, such as dialing and keyboarding.
• Light lifting of up to 10 pounds. 

Work Environment:

• Typical office environment. 
• Hours are consistent with normal business operations as well as employee and member requirements.
• Attendance at evening meetings, conferences, workshops, and other professional meetings, including overnight travel, may be required.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

• Associate or Technical Degree in Engineering, Construction Science, or related field.
• 2+ years of construction project management work experience. Utility industry experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Construction Science, or a related field may substitute for some work experience. Work experience may be substituted for the educational requirement.
• Must successfully complete the Underground Line Design Training offered by Hi-Line Engineering (or equivalent approved by Supervisor) within one (1) year of entry into this classification.

Licensing and Certification:

• Valid Texas driver's license.
• Must be certified in CPR, First Aid, AED, and Blood-borne pathogens.
• Notary Public
• Project Management Professional (PMP) Preferred  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to use standard software applications such as Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to use AutoCAD or equivalent drafting software.
• Knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code.
• Knowledge of distribution design and construction practices, and standards.
• Knowledge of utility service guidelines and policies.
• Knowledge of Bluebonnet work order processing procedures.
• Knowledge of GIS mapping system and associated technologies.
• Knowledge of power system components, functions, ratings, and limitations.
• Knowledge of roadway security and other lighting design practices.
• Ability to analyze power distribution systems and components.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
• Ability to frequently travel within the Bluebonnet Service Area.
• Interpersonal skills that result in effective working relationships with peers, members, and vendors.
• Ability to communicate effectively and in a positive manner; focused on improvement or problem resolution in a constructive, positive, and professional manner.
