Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Manager
Skills
- Commercial UAS operations and management experience
- Strong knowledge of FAA Part 107 and aviation safety standards
- Hands-on experience with LiDAR and photogrammetric data processing
- Familiarity with Pix4D, DroneDeploy, Global Mapper or similar software
- Experience integrating geospatial outputs with BIM/CAD workflows
- Project and team management skills
- Business development and client-facing experience
- Ability to perform fieldwork and handle/transport equipment
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee UAS mission planning, execution, and data delivery for surveying and inspection projects
- Ensure FAA (and applicable local authority) regulatory compliance and enforce internal safety protocols
- Recruit, train, and supervise UAS pilots and support staff while fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement
- Identify and pursue new aerial services and client opportunities in coordination with business leadership
- Evaluate and implement drone platforms, sensors (LiDAR, photogrammetry), and data processing workflows
- Coordinate with internal project teams to meet budgets, timelines, and client expectations
- Conduct risk assessments, maintain operational documentation, and manage airspace and privacy compliance
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Surveying, GIS, Engineering, Aviation, or related field or equivalent experience
- Preferred: Registered Professional Surveyor (RPS) or ASPRS certification
