- Proven engineering management experience building and scaling SaaS teams
- Experience delivering cloud-based web applications (front- and back-end)
- Track record driving complex multi-quarter roadmaps to completion
- Familiarity with observability and SRE practices (logging, metrics, alerting)
- Experience with engineering productivity tools (e.g., Jira) and modern SDLC processes
- Strong hiring, mentoring, and people-management skills
- Ability to work with regulated-use cases; curiosity about biotech and life sciences
Responsibilities
- Manage a group of 2–3 engineering scrum teams (directly manage one scrum of ~5–10 engineers; others via subordinate managers).
- Translate product and company strategy into quarterly plans with measurable targets and deliverables.
- Define and execute a software engineering roadmap covering new features, quality improvements, maintenance, and bug fixes.
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and mentor engineers and engineering managers; act as a hiring bar-raiser.
- Collaborate closely with product management, design, SRE, and other stakeholders to align priorities and shipping cadence.
- Set and maintain engineering quality standards and continuously improve the SDLC, interviewing, and onboarding processes.
- Ensure operational health and observability practices for services owned by the group.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Advanced degree in a technical or life-science discipline is a plus
