About Atomic Semi
Atomic Semi is building a small, fast semiconductor fab.
It’s already possible to build this with today’s technology and a few simplifications. We’ll build the tools ourselves so we can quickly iterate and improve.
We’re building a small team of exceptional, hands-on engineers to make this happen. Mechanical, electrical, hardware, computer, and process. We’ll own the stack from atoms to architecture. Our team is optimistic about the future and we want to continue pushing the limits of technology.
Smaller is better. Faster is better. Building it ourselves is better.
We believe our team and lab can build anything. We’ve set up 3D printers, a wide array of microscopes, e-beam writers, general fabrication equipment - and whatever is missing, we’ll just invent along the way.
Atomic was founded by Sam Zeloof and Jim Keller. Sam is best known for making chips in his garage, and Jim has been a leader in the semiconductor industry for the past 40 years.
About the Team
At Atomic Semi, we’re building a fast, small semiconductor fab from the ground up. The software team is responsible for everything that makes the fab run—writing the code that controls, manages, automates, and orchestrates the hardware that powers chipmaking.
About the Role
You’ll own frontend product development—from idea to shipped UI. You’ll turn ambiguous workflows into clear, fast, reliable interfaces and obsess over product taste, usability, and performance. You’ll partner closely with process and automation engineers, designers, and backend/embedded teams to create new operator tools and real-time dashboards.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain the core web app UI for the fab
Design operator workflows, dashboards, and controls
Develop reusable components and design systems
Integrate with APIs and real-time data streams
Optimize performance, reliability, and UX
Required Experience
Deep expertise in modern frontend stacks (e.g., React/Typescript) and tooling
Proven ability to ship production-quality UIs, evolving prototypes into robust products
Strong product sense with rapid prototyping and iteration balanced by craftsmanship
Experience with state management, real-time data (WebSockets/Subscriptions), and testing
Nice-to-have
Previous experience as founder or early engineer at a startup or in a zero-to-one role
Published projects, open source contributions, or side projects that demonstrate technical creativity
Experience with complex data-heavy or hardware-adjacent UIs (e.g., live telemetry, control panels, visualization/WebGL)
