M&A Integration Director

Apex Companies is a fast-growing engineering and environmental consulting firm recognized for rapid growth, strong client retention, and strategic acquisitions. The Integration Director will lead and coordinate post-merger integration activities across business units, ensuring deal synergies, operational alignment, and cultural integration in a project-driven environment.

Skills

  • Proven track record leading large-scale, multi-functional M&A integrations
  • Experience establishing and managing an integration PMO
  • Working knowledge of integration planning, implementation, and post-integration stabilization
  • Familiarity with change management frameworks and tools
  • Strong financial and analytical capabilities to identify and track synergies
  • Excellent stakeholder management, influencing, and executive communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent integrations in a project-driven environment
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional integration teams to execute integration plans from close through full assimilation
  • Define integration strategy, scope, playbooks, timelines, and KPIs aligned with deal rationale
  • Develop and manage post-close integration playbooks and project plans tailored to project-based workflows
  • Collaborate with Legal, Finance, HR, IT, and Operations to set priorities and mitigate integration risks
  • Track and report synergies, cost savings, and performance metrics to executive stakeholders and board
  • Champion cultural integration and employee engagement during transitions
  • Establish and run a Project Management Office (PMO) to drive integration governance and alignment
  • Conduct post-mortem assessments to capture lessons learned and improve future integrations
  • Prepare regular status updates and escalation materials for executive leadership and the board
  • Travel as required (up to 30%) to support integration activities and site engagements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field required
  • Project management or change leadership certification (PMP, Prosci) preferred
