Staff Software Engineer, GNC
Skills
- Proficiency in Matlab and Simulink (including Simulink Embedded Coder)
- Strong C++ and Python programming skills
- Extensive experience modeling and simulating linear and nonlinear dynamic systems
- Experience with real-time and faster-than-real-time simulation
- Knowledge of aerodynamics, rotorcraft dynamics, sensors, actuators, and flexible body dynamics
- Expertise in numerical methods for engineering applications
- Experience designing and executing SIL and HIL tests
Responsibilities
- Develop, debug, and test flight controllers and guidance algorithms for fixed- and rotary-wing platforms
- Design and maintain high-fidelity 6-DOF simulation environments for GNC development and validation
- Create and run Software-In-The-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-In-The-Loop (HIL) tests to prepare systems for flight
- Integrate GNC software with flight software team requirements and validate functionality in simulation
- Analyze test and flight data to verify vehicle performance, evaluate controller behavior, and support incident debugging
- Develop mathematical and physical models (aerodynamics, rotors, actuators, sensors, flexible dynamics) to support functional evaluation
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or related field (required)
- Master’s or PhD in a related field with focus on dynamic systems and control (preferred)
