Senior Packaging Engineer, Electromechanical Hardware
Skills
- Packaging engineering for complex mechanical/electrical assemblies
- Experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for packaging design
- Proficiency with ERP/WMS systems (NetSuite, Oracle or similar) and inventory management
- Material selection and supplier evaluation for packaging components
- Knowledge of regulatory, safety, and defense packaging standards (MIL specs familiarity preferred)
- Packaging risk assessment, testing, and root-cause investigation
- Strong cross-functional communication and project leadership
- Ability to travel up to 25% and relocate to be onsite in Costa Mesa, CA
Responsibilities
- Design protective packaging for high-value and sensitive electromechanical assemblies for transport, storage, and deployment
- Lead internal packaging design for production line delivery and coordinate implementation with Material Flow and Industrial Engineering
- Evaluate materials and supplier packaging to meet technical, safety, and regulatory requirements
- Develop prototypes, manage build milestones, and lead sourcing for packaging components
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support demand forecasting, procurement planning, and timely delivery of packaging and materials
- Lead packaging-related risk assessments and investigations for transportation and storage incidents
- Use ERP and WMS tools to track packaging inventory, generate reports, and deliver data-driven optimization recommendations
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and quality control protocols
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (required)
- Preferred: Mechanical or Materials Engineering
