Metrology Engineer
Skills
- Strong background in precision measurement and metrology systems
- Proficiency with CMMs and metrology software (e.g., PolyWorks)
- Experience with large-volume metrology equipment: laser tracker, laser radar, 3D scanners
- Solid understanding of GD&T, FAI, AS9100, and aerospace measurement techniques
- Data analysis and statistical software proficiency for measurement system analysis
- Familiarity with Teamcenter, NX, Jira, and manufacturing execution systems
- Budgeting and forecasting experience for metrology programs
- Strong communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to integrate metrology early for risk mitigation and verification
- Define and implement a metrology roadmap aligned to production and manufacturing goals
- Design and manufacture inspection gages (Go/No-Go and automated vision/scan systems) for inline and receiving inspection
- Develop metrology plans using CMM, 3D scanning, laser trackers/radar, digital twins, and data visualization
- Apply GD&T, FAI, and measurement system analysis to meet aerospace/defense standards
- Analyze measurement data to monitor product quality, accuracy, and process consistency
- Support supplier quality engineers in elevating supplier metrology practices
- Assist product quality engineers with RCCA, MRB, and incident management related to metrology
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, or related) required
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering field preferred
