Skills
- Proven experience performing FEA and structural analysis on aluminum and composite assemblies.
- Practical proficiency with Siemens NX, Nastran, and FEMAP (or equivalent tools).
- Mechanical system design for electromechanical/robotic platforms, including mechanisms and actuators.
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, machining, sheet metal, composites, injection molding, or additive manufacturing.
- System-level engineering mindset with ability to manage subsystem technical leadership and stakeholder engagement.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain U.S. Top Secret clearance and ability to travel ~20%.
Responsibilities
- Perform structural, modal, and dynamic analyses of mission-critical structures, mechanisms, and actuated systems using tools such as Siemens NX, Nastran, and FEMAP.
- Support full product lifecycle activities: design, prototyping, manufacturing, integration, test, delivery, and sustainment of integrated electromechanical systems.
- Trade off solutions considering constraints, evolving requirements, schedule, cost, manufacturability, and reliability across multiple stakeholders.
- Contribute as an integrated product team member, coordinating with electrical, controls, software, test, and manufacturing engineers.
- Critically assess designs for end-user value, manufacturing ease, reusability across product lines, and iterative improvement.
- Engage with end users, vendors, and test sites; travel as needed to co-locate, support integration, and validate designs (up to 20%).
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
