Android Software Engineer - Tactical Command and Control
Skills
- Proficient in Android development using Kotlin, Java, and Jetpack Compose
- Experience with backend/middleware languages such as C++, Rust, or Go
- Familiarity with TCP/UDP/Multicast, HTTP/REST, protobuf/gRPC networking
- Experience building high‑traffic, data‑intensive, or map‑based UI systems
- Experience with build systems and CI tooling (CMake, gradle, Cargo, Docker, NixOS, CircleCI)
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, test, and deploy real‑time map‑based Android UIs and ATAK plugins for vehicle control and sensor display.
- Define and implement network and telemetry APIs for vehicle configuration, payload control, FMV streaming, and autonomous tasking.
- Collaborate with product designers, chief engineers, flight test engineers, and customers to iterate on UX and interaction workflows.
- Work across frontend (Jetpack Compose, Android SDK) and high‑performance backend components (C++, Rust, Golang, Java/Kotlin).
- Integrate with ATAK SDK and participate in TAK developer community workflows.
- Validate software via simulation, benchtop tests, and live flight evaluations; provide on‑call support as needed.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field (required)
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in relevant field preferred
