Summary:
The Senior Accommodations Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Associate Director of Disability Support with coordinating the implementation of approved reasonable disability-related accommodations at American University’s Washington College of Law (AUWCL).
Essential Functions:
1.) Disability Accommodation Implementation
Coordinates and implements all disability-related accommodations, including but not limited to assessment accommodations, interpreting services, notetaking services, and alternative text to meet students’ approved accommodation(s).
Responsible for hiring and scheduling interpreting, CART and captioning services.
Manages and distributes alternative text requests.
Coordinates all regularly scheduled AUWCL accommodated assessments
Primarily responsible for and manages all AUWCL accommodated final exams, including effectively implementing all accommodations, space planning, proctor hiring/training, and student communications while fully complying with all AUWCL Exam Policies.
Collaborates with relevant faculty and staff offices, including but not limited to AUWCL’s Office of the Registrar, Office of Student Affairs, Office of Academic Excellence, Facilities Management, and Office of Information Technology to ensure accommodation implementation while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
Handle in-class accommodation issues during regular business hours.
2.) Administrative
Responsible for monitoring AUWCL Disability Support email, composing email replies to students/AU community members and forwarding email as appropriate in a timely manner.
Maintain inventory of materials necessary for disability accommodations and purchasing supplies as necessary.
Handle incoming mail, faxes, and deliveries.
Fully coordinate with the ASAC Operations Coordinator to ensure inbox inquiries are responded to and student accommodation requests/documentation are put into the ASAC database system.
Liaison with OIT to address accommodation needs.
The Coordinator is responsible for hiring, training, and scheduling graduate assistants/test proctors, as needed.
The Coordinator oversees the payment process for all contracted services and tracks expenditures.
Assist with data monitoring and accuracy in ASAC data management system and student files.
The Coordinator may serve as a back-up for the other Accommodation Coordinators in the Academic Support and Access Center.
3.) Other Duties As Assigned

Salary Range:
$26.47-$29.74 per hour.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree.
2-4 years of relevant experience.
At least 2-4 years of experience in customer and/or administrative service or similar setting or the combination of education and experience, which demonstrates the necessary skills and abilities required for the position.
Expert knowledge of general office software (email, word processing, spreadsheets, publishing).
Ability to plan, set priorities and follow through on complex tasks.
Ability to work independently and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to use independent judgement and discretion with minimal supervision.
Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and the public.
Technology experience including MS Office.
Proven ability to quickly learn new software.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team.
Ability to deal properly with confidential material.
High level of attention to detail, organization, sound judgement, discretion, and the ability to multitask.
Must be able to work and plan independently with limited supervision and provide a superior level of customer service to all ASAC stakeholders.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Prior work with students, familiarity with the ADA, database systems.
Experience working in a confidential setting; experience with online scheduling and data management systems.
Demonstrated well-developed written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
