American Express National Bank is American Express’ U.S. banking operation, representing more than 60% of the company’s revenues through consistent payments, financing, and savings products. Led by the Chief Operating Officer, AENB HQ drives the administration of programs and services provided by AENB, in partnership with Bank affiliates and executive officers. In addition, the team plays an enterprise role in driving greater consistency, effectiveness and efficiency across the first line via the AENB COO Office’s Strategic Planning, Control Management, Program Management and Governance functions.

The Corporate Functions Governance & Control team within AENB HQ governs risk management centrally for the corporate functions: AENB HQ, Corporate Affairs & Communications, Colleague Experience Group, Enterprise Strategy, Enterprise Shared Services, General Counsel’s Office, and Global Risk & Compliance.

The Corporate Functions Governance & Change team is looking for a Senior Manager, Enterprise Risk Management Reporting to help:

  • Coordinate all aspects of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) reporting for the seven corporate functions, including risk aggregation
  • Develop and maintain all corporate functions BU-level ERM metrics, such as risk appetite measurements, including producing content for executive level committees and forums
  • Monitor performance against risk appetite thresholds and limits for each business unit and escalate as appropriate.
  • Ensure the corporate functions BUs appropriately adhere to enterprise risk program requirements, including BU level risk identification and risk assessment.
  • Product ERM reporting for the Corporate Functions Risk Committee
  • Provide support to develop BU-specific procedures and additional standards (i.e., escalation protocols), related to the execution of Enterprise Risk Management programs 
  • Facilitate the understanding and use of the risk governance framework across BUs through regular communication 
  • Support sharing insights, better practices, themes, etc. across the enterprise 

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ Years experience in risk management (e.g., within Risk and/or Internal Audit function) Understanding of critical risk management lifecycle activities 
  • Strong project management, communication, and interpersonal skills 
  • Experience in process governance, with an understanding of processes that align with policies, regulatory frameworks, and/or operational standards 
  • Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively  

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in at least one of the following:  

  • Translating risk strategy and appetite into execution guidelines 
  • Tracking and identifying issues with Key Risk Indicator (KRI) limits and risk appetite to ensure risks are managed within agreed thresholds 
  • Oversee the implementation of risk governance frameworks  
  • Communicating and ensuring understanding and adherence to enterprise risk procedures and standards  
  • Experience in the financial services industry

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
