ALSO is looking for a Tools & Automation Lead Engineer to be a member of embedded firmware and software development on next generation products. This role will be responsible for defining, developing and implementing the overall architecture, for tools & automation to enable developer efficiency.
This is a highly cross-functional role and the right candidate must lead and be proactive and excited about greenfield work, having a level of independence and autonomy to drive initiatives & follow through on implementations.
What You Will Do
Lead a team of Tools Engineers to architect, design, develop & implement developer efficiency tools.
Manage SIL and HIL test environments using Automation framework, driving a critical role in SW/HW integration.
Drive the design and implementation of scalable test execution workflows with automation hooks integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
Integrate third-party Test Management Systems & Requirements databases along with Build systems such as Git & AWS.
Develop infrastructure for report generation, test dashboards, traceability matrices, and system metrics.
Develop product tools such as command line interfaces & associated scripting for purposes of engineering & serviceability interfacing.
Write clean, efficient, scalable, and maintainable code, primarily using Python, while expertly utilizing the Qt framework (specifically PyQt or PySide) to create compelling cross-platform graphical user interfaces.
Systematically troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects, performance bottlenecks, and platform-specific anomalies across diverse operating system versions and hardware configurations.
Actively participate in peer code reviews, providing constructive feedback to maintain high standards of code quality.
Stay informed about emerging technologies, new tools, evolving platform standards (for Windows and macOS), and advancements within the Python and Qt ecosystems to propose and implement improvements in development processes and product capabilities.
What You Will Bring
BS or MS in software engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other relevant fields.
7+ years of professional experience in Software Design & Development of Tools & Infrastructure for Quality Assurance, CI/CD practices, embedded software/firmware development.
Strong proficiency and professional experience in Python programming with hands-on experience building test frameworks and test integration tools.
Experience with use of AI based code generation and tooling experience
Strong hands-on experience developing with the Qt framework, specifically utilizing Python bindings such as PyQt or PySide, for building cross-platform applications.
Practical familiarity with the macOS development environment and toolchain, including demonstrable experience using Xcode for tasks such as building, debugging, code signing, etc.
Proficiency using modern version control systems, with a strong preference for Git.
Familiarity with Test automation tools for verification of vertically integrated Products including embedded firmware, application software, mobile app & cloud backend system integration (e.g. Selenium, Appium, Espresso, RobotFramework, Vysor, etc.).
Experience interfacing with hardware via I2C, SPI, USB, JTAG is required and familiarity with the automotive domain (protocols such as CAN, CAN-FD, UDS, etc) is preferred.
Passion for and demonstrated proficiency in working with cross-functional hardware and software teams.
The salary for this position ranges from $170,000 - $220,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
