Are you a Full-Stack Engineer with backend expertise, or a Back-End Engineer who also writes React? Do you love building modern web applications and solving real-world problems with clean, scalable code? Are you looking to grow your technical skills while making an impact in a mission-driven startup? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!
You will report directly to the head of Applications, providing critical support for back-end projects and cloud initiatives. If you have hands-on experience with TypeScript, Node.js, APIs, and Azure, plus a desire to develop both user-facing and back-end systems, you’ll be a key contributor to building the future of health insurance in Texas! You will spend 80% of your time working on the back end and 20% on the front end.
In this role, you will:
Develop and maintain scalable APIs using Node.js and TypeScript.
Design and implement back-end system integrations with external vendors and partners.
Implement new, and enhance existing, authentication systems. Build Single Sign-On (SSO) connections with external partners.
Support cloud architecture in building and maintaining the cloud environment.
Interpret data needs and requirements in system designs.
Ensure best practices for performance, maintainability, and security across the stack.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver features and enhancements that improve platform stability, service integrity, application features, and user experience.
To be successful in this role, you must have:
A bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
At least 2 years of experience in back-end or full-stack web application development, particularly at the server and API layer, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Strong knowledge of TypeScript, Node.js, and the server/client relationship.
Familiarity with API development, system integrations, and authentication flows.
Proficiency with modern cloud architecture in AWS, GCP, or preferrable Azure.
SQL skills and familiarity with data contracts and databases.
Solid system design understanding and experience scaling reliable systems.
An understanding of core web and application security practices.
Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative, growth-oriented mindset.
It would be great if you have:
Experience building and main modern web applications.
Familiar with React 18, Next.js, TypeScript, and Material UI.
Azure experience.
Knowledge of the healthcare industry or with regulated systems.
A passion for contributing to the improvement of health insurance services.
Solid experience with React and Next.js.
Exposure to testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
Familiarity working in a startup or fast-paced product environment.
Interest in building systems that improve people’s access to healthcare.
Location: Texicare offers a flex-hybrid environment centered around collaboration and connection. All employees must reside in Texas. Team members living in the Austin area are expected to work from our office at least two days per week. Those based outside the greater Austin area may work remotely within Texas, with occasional travel to Austin as needed.
