About the opportunity:
We are looking for a forward-thinking Technical SEO & Schema Engineer to help us pioneer the next frontier of search: Generative Engine Optimization (GEO).
We are seeking a highly curious professional to lead our Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) and Knowledge Graph strategy. Unlike traditional SEO roles that focus on ranking links, this position is dedicated to ensuring our clients' data is accurately ingested, understood, and recommended by Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI search engines (e.g., ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google SGE).
Schema & Structured Data: Architect and implement advanced JSON-LD, entity mapping, and program-level schema to ensure search engines and LLMs clearly understand client content.
Knowledge Graph Optimization: Build and manage digital entities to increase the likelihood of inclusion in AI-generated responses and Knowledge Panels.
Technical Implementation: Work within CMS environments (primarily WordPress) to execute technical optimizations, including site architecture and code-level enhancements.
AI Search Strategy: Research and stay ahead of the curve on how Perplexity, ChatGPT, and Google Gemini scrape and cite data.
Internal Collaboration: Act as the technical "engine" for our SEO and content teams. Provide clear requirements to client-facing teams to gather necessary data for your technical builds.
Reporting & Analytics: Use SEMrush, GA4, and Google Search Console to monitor performance and iterate on strategies.
Continuous Learning: Act as the agency’s subject matter expert on the evolving landscape of AI search, keeping us ahead of Google’s AI mode and other emerging LLM technologies.
Requirements:
Expert Level Schema/JSON-LD: Deep experience with advanced schema types, including entity linking and nested structured data.
Knowledge Graph Experience: Proven ability to influence how entities are connected and recognized by search engines and AI scrapers.
Web Development Foundations: Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as it relates to SEO and data scraping.
Platform Proficiency: Experience with WordPress (CMS), SEMrush, and GA4 is essential.
AI/GEO Curious: You don’t need to be a "10-year veteran" in a 1-year-old field, but you must be obsessed with how LLMs are changing search and have experimented with AI optimization.
Intellectual Curiosity: You are a self-starter who loves "figuring out" new technology before there is a manual for it.
Thorough Communication: While this is a non-client-facing role, you must be able to communicate complex technical needs clearly to the internal team.
Strategic Detail: You "think before you fire," ensuring that requests sent to clients are comprehensive and demonstrate high competence.
