Job Description

AECOM is hosting an exclusive, invitation-only hiring event in Philadelphia on October 9-10, 2025. This is a great opportunity to learn and connect with AECOM for career opportunities starting Spring/Summer 2026.

The event kicks off on Thursday evening with a networking mixer from 6-8 pm, where you can hear from AECOM staff about various projects, career paths, and the company itself. You’ll also have the chance to meet other students, recent graduates, and AECOM professionals from across our business lines.

On Friday, interviews will take place at our Philadelphia office. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about and connect with AECOM for early career opportunities.

AECOM’s Environment Business Line is seeking a talented Engineering Intern to support our Remediation team based in our Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, or Virginia office.

This position is expected to begin in Spring/Summer 2026.

Internships at AECOM offer students in undergraduate and graduate programs the opportunity to gain valuable firsthand experience in engineering design, and remediation projects that make a real-world impact. Interns work with innovative technology, learn the industry’s best practices, and collaborate with experienced professionals in a globally recognized firm. The program fosters both technical and professional skill development while providing networking opportunities that can enhance future career prospects.

Additionally, AECOM’s dedication to innovation and sustainability enables interns to contribute to meaningful projects that help shape communities and the built environment.

Internships are designed to introduce and build essential firsthand skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting the Environment team by preparing design drawings, work plans, technical reports, and details for various remediation projects.
  • Assisting experienced Environment staff with collecting field data and samples.
  • Completing other assigned tasks that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within the Environmental Engineering field of study.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must pursue a bachelor’s degree in environmental/civil engineering or in another related field and must have completed three (3) or more years of study. Candidates who have graduated with a bachelor’s degree and are currently or planning to continue with their master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Graduates not pursuing a master’s degree must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term.
  • Completed university courses related to environmental remediation and/or sustainability.
  • Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing, and standard office software.
  • Ability to work productively in a team environment.
  • Possess effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently when needed, self-learner.
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and as a condition of employment, must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pursuing Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE).
  • GIS and CAD skills.
