Job Description
AECOM is seeking a motivated Entry-Level Civil Engineer to join our Surface Water team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience in hydrology, hydraulics, and civil design to support surface water and stormwater management projects with ENR’s #1 ranked water engineering firm.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and analysis of stormwater management systems, drainage networks, and flood control infrastructure.
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling for floodplain studies, culverts, bridges, detention basins, and channel improvements.
- Support preparation of engineering drawings, technical reports, and construction documents under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Conduct fieldwork including topographic data collection, condition assessments, and construction observation.
- Contribute to watershed and stormwater master planning efforts through data analysis and GIS integration.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and CAD/BIM designers to deliver high-quality, resilient solutions.
- Stay current on industry standards, codes, and sustainable engineering practices in surface water and stormwater design.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field), or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience.
- Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship or collegiate project experience in hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater, or surface water design.
- Familiarity with H&H modeling software (e.g., HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, XP-SWMM, or similar).
- Exposure to GIS tools for hydrologic analysis and mapping.
