This role requires expertise to support the calibration and maintenance of sensors within Aclima’s mobile air quality monitoring fleet in Southern California. Key responsibilities include managing our Southern California calibration facility, performing sensor calibrations, performing routine and non-routine maintenance and troubleshooting of sensing hardware, keeping logs and data entry, maintaining documentation, and supporting additional operational and R&D projects.

About the Role
Aclima is looking for an experienced laboratory technician to help launch and operate a new calibration laboratory in Santa Clarita, CA. The position will initially involve assisting in the laboratory setup. After the initial setup phase, the day-to-day responsibilities will revolve around performing routine calibration and maintenance of air quality instrumentation to support data quality operations of Aclima’s air quality mapping fleet.
The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and able to maintain focus on repetitive routine tasks. Simultaneously, they should also be able to solve problems creatively and continually keep an eye towards process and system improvements.
This is an in person role in Santa Clarita, CA, with anticipated travel (within California) of 20-30%, varying from month to month. Specific location TBD.
Responsibilities:
Laboratory set-up
Perform routine calibrations
Perform various other QA/QC procedures
Air quality instrumentation troubleshooting and maintenance
Maintain up-to-date documentation on all procedures
Data entry
Data analysis
General lab upkeep
Qualifications:
Proficient with compressed gas handling and associated safety procedures
Understanding of common calibration procedures for analytical instrumentation
Comfortable with gas flow systems and common types of fittings used (e.g. compression fittings)
Able to diagnose and repair leaks in gas flow systems
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Comfortable with various digital/software tools (e.g. spreadsheets, word processing, simple data visualization tools, etc)
Driver’s license & clean driving record (no points)
Ability to lift 50 lbs
Experience
Optional: Bachelors or Masters with a major/focus area in chemistry or other physical science
1+ years of full time experience in a laboratory environment
Analytical chemistry and instrumental analysis coursework

Pay Transparency
The hourly rate range for this non-exempt position is $30.00. Health benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision) are included. Eligible for 401(K). No equity. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location, and are informed by current market data provided by Carta Total Comp.
Within those ranges, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. The Hiring Manager can share more about the salary range during the hiring process. Employee must continue to reside within 90 miles of location used to determine starting salary, otherwise Aclima reserves the right to make regional adjustments to pay.
