Your Role:

The Director Birth to Three Learning is responsible for the research, development, and refinement of a comprehensive, high-impact curriculum for young children from birth to age three. Grounded in evidence-based practices, this role ensures that curriculum and tools drive measurable improvements in child outcomes and impactful learning environments. The individual in this role reviews and integrates data on implementation fidelity, instructional quality, and developmental progress to continuously improve curriculum design. They work closely with education leaders, practitioners, curriculum writers and with individuals across local and central teams. This role is responsible for the development and/or refinement of tools or products that are responsive to the changing needs of programs and practitioners aiming to meet the educational needs of young children. This expert advisor manages both people and time effectively, thrives in a fast-paced work environment, adapts quickly to change, and maintains a clear vision for curriculum and educational product development.  

What You’ll Do:

  • Curriculum Design & Innovation
  • Develop rigorous curriculum prototypes across all learning domains, birth to five.
  • Refine prototypes using observations, feedback, and learning data.
  • Build standards-aligned scope and sequence documents and transform prototypes into exemplar lessons, templates, and rubrics for broader use.
  • Leverage technology and emerging tools—including AI—to design, test, and scale curriculum and professional learning.
  • Training & Implementation
  • Develop training materials and provide observation, feedback, and coaching to teachers and coaches.
  • Collect and synthesize input from practitioners to inform improvements.
  • Support field testing, logistics, and troubleshooting for curriculum and assessment implementation.
  • Provide ongoing virtual and in-person training, office hours, and tool development to ensure successful adoption.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration
  • Guide and support curriculum writers, contractors, and consultants to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Lead and manage team members, including hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating performance.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings to manage projects, track goals, and resolve challenges.
  • Collaborate across departments and external partners to integrate health, family engagement, and mental health perspectives into curriculum.
  • Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and in publications as a thought leader in early learning.
  • Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
  • Review and evaluate curriculum and materials for accuracy, effectiveness, and alignment with educational standards.
  • Conduct gap analyses, ensure integration of family engagement, and align content with values and equal opportunity standards.
  • Analyze data for fidelity, instructional quality, and outcomes; maintain thorough documentation and report on project progress.
  • Implement a continuous improvement cycle informed by teacher feedback, child outcomes, and implementation data.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, or related field; master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Curriculum, Human Development or related field preferred.
  • Experience in curriculum development for early childhood education programs preferred.
  • Experience in educational product or program development preferred.
  • Experience fostering and maintaining a collaborative team dynamic with a wide range of people and styles working together to set and achieve project goals.
  • Experience working with both Early Head Start students or other infants and toddlers as well as Head Start students or other preschoolers is preferred.

How Much: This positions pays up to $113,000 annually
