We are seeking an experienced and strategic Manager of Technical Release Managers to lead and mentor our growing Release Operations team. This role is crucial for scaling our release processes, ensuring the team operates efficiently, and driving continuous improvement in how we deliver our products. As a manager, you will guide a team of Technical Release Managers (TRMs) who coordinate and manage the release lifecycle for our applications across multiple platforms.
You will act as the key liaison between the Release Operations team and senior leadership, advocating for the team's needs, defining strategic goals, and ensuring our release practices align with overall business objectives. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who is passionate about enabling high-performing teams and optimizing complex systems.
What We're Looking For:
2+ years of experience managing or leading a team of technical professionals, preferably in a release management capacity.
5+ years of experience in release management, software development, or a related role.
Strong understanding of software development lifecycles (SDLC) and release management principles.
A strong understanding of CI/CD concepts and tooling.
Demonstrated experience in building, mentoring, and scaling a team of engineers or technical managers.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with senior leadership, engineering VPs, and cross-functional teams.
Experience in establishing and monitoring key metrics (e.g., release predictability, lead time, deployment frequency) to drive data-informed decisions and improvements.
Proficiency with project management and ticketing systems, particularly using Jira for advanced reporting and process tracking.
What You Can Expect:
Lead, mentor, and empower a team of Technical Release Managers, fostering a culture of ownership, continuous learning, and excellence.
Define and execute the strategic roadmap for the Release Operations team, ensuring it aligns with company-wide goals.
Serve as the primary point of contact for release-related issues and escalations, working with senior stakeholders to resolve challenges and mitigate risks.
Drive the evolution of our release processes and tooling, championing initiatives that improve efficiency, quality, and predictability.
Establish and maintain a robust set of release metrics and reporting dashboards to provide clear visibility into the health and performance of our delivery pipeline.
Oversee the high-level management of release-related risks and major incidents.
USA-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $168,000 USD and $228,000 USD, plus immediate participation in 1Password's benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
Canada-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $143,000 CAD and $193,000 CAD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s generous benefits program (health, dental, RRSP and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs.
