Skills
- Strong experience with Endpoint/MDR telemetry and detection development
- Familiarity with at least one additional domain: Cloud/SaaS, Identity, Email, or SIEM
- Proven automation and orchestration skills to process high-volume telemetry effectively
- Fluent with query languages and platform syntaxes (SQL, KQL, Lucene, etc.)
- Experience authoring and tuning rules with YARA, SIGMA, Snort, Splunk, Elastic, or similar
- Ability to write clear, customer-facing threat writeups and technical documentation
Responsibilities
- Analyze EDR telemetry, alerts, and diverse log sources to identify malicious activity and detection opportunities
- Author, publish, and communicate clear detections and threat alerts for customers with concise documentation
- Create and tune detectors/rules using tools and languages appropriate to each platform
- Improve detection engineering workflows through automation and orchestration
- Mentor peers and collaborate cross-functionally with development, product, and response teams
- Lead projects to improve detection quality, customer experience, and CIRT operations
- Work scheduled shift coverage (Wednesday–Saturday, 5pm–3am MST) to support 24/7 detection operations
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience
