At WISEcode, we’re codifying “What I Should Eat” - transforming nutrition data into personalized, actionable insights for millions of consumers. We’re building an AI-driven wellness ecosystem that’s transparent, empowering, and ethical. As Head of Mobile Engineering, you’ll lead the product that brings this mission to life - one release, one experiment, one user at a time.
About the Role
WISEcode is looking for a Head of Mobile Engineering to lead the development of our consumer-facing mobile app - built in Flutter and deployed across Android, iOS, and WebAssembly web apps. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who not only writes exceptional Flutter code but also shapes the systems, processes, and people behind a world-class mobile experience.
You’ll oversee the full lifecycle of mobile development - from architecture to release - while driving a culture of continuous delivery, experimentation, and measurable product impact. You’ll collaborate closely with Product Management and Design as an equal partner, ensuring that ideas translate into thoughtful, reliable, and data-informed releases.
The ideal candidate brings an AI-aware mindset - understanding how on-device intelligence, personalization, and data-driven insights can enhance the user experience and inform better product decisions. You don’t need to be a machine learning expert, but you think in terms of signal, prediction, and feedback loops that help users make smarter, healthier choices.
What You’ll Do
● Lead and grow the mobile engineering team - setting the technical bar for code quality, architecture, and mobile performance.
● Own the mobile architecture across Android, iOS, and WebAssembly builds, ensuring consistency, scalability, and maintainability.
● Implement disciplined release practices through deep integration of feature flagging (LaunchDarkly), staged rollouts, and A/B testing.
● Champion an experimentation-driven culture, building robust instrumentation pipelines to measure feature impact and user behavior.
● Define and enforce mobile-backend boundaries, ensuring that Hasura and database schemas remain stable and purposeful while mobile evolves rapidly.
● Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Management and Design to create healthy push-pull dynamics that drive clarity, focus, and achievable timelines.
● Set high standards for velocity with discipline, leading by example in balancing agility, stability, and architectural integrity.
● Mentor engineers on mobile best practices, code reviews, and architectural decision-making.
● Shape the evolution of WISEcode’s mobile platform as we gradually introduce a .NET-based service layer for richer, purpose-built APIs.
Who You Are
● A hands-on technical leader with deep expertise in Flutter and proven experience building, shipping, and maintaining complex cross-platform mobile apps.
● Comfortable with multiple mobile ecosystems - you’ve likely worked with Flutter, React Native, Xamarin, or .NET MAUI and know their strengths and pitfalls.
● Experienced with GraphQL, and ideally familiar with Hasura or similar frameworks; strong awareness of backend design principles and API governance.
● Proficient in relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred), with enough fluency to understand how schema design impacts app data flow.
● Obsessed with release quality and user experience - you see feature flags, monitoring, and telemetry as non-negotiable components of agility.
● Confident in cross-functional collaboration - you’re the steady hand who brings structure and accountability when product requirements are vague or late.
● Excited by the challenge of building a modern mobile engineering culture where experimentation, speed, and craftsmanship coexist.
● Driven by measurable outcomes - you define success through KPIs, adoption metrics, and tangible product impact, not just technical completion.
Leadership Qualities
● Sense of urgency and ownership: You act quickly, follow through, and never let things linger.
● Outcome-oriented: You balance technical ambition with business impact and clear success metrics.
● Builder mentality: You don’t just manage; you architect, code, and model excellence by example.
● Strong communicator: You simplify complexity and foster productive dialogue across engineering, product, and design.
● Calm under pressure: You steady the team when priorities shift or deadlines compress.
● Mentor and multiplier: You develop engineers who are proactive, accountable, and self-sufficient.
● Data-driven decision maker: You rely on instrumentation, experimentation, and insight, not intuition alone.
Bonus Points
● Experience integrating LaunchDarkly, Firebase Analytics, or Mixpanel for experimentation and instrumentation.
● Deep understanding of continuous delivery and CI/CD pipelines for mobile (Fastlane, GitHub Actions, Bitrise, etc.).
● Experience building or consuming .NET-based backends or serverless service layers.
● A track record of scaling mobile engineering teams in fast-moving startup environments.
