Responsibilities
- Participate in 3–4 hospital shifts per week across days, swings, and nights under direct mentorship
- Provide emergency medical and surgical care for small animals and exotics in an open-concept ER
- Collaborate with experienced VEG doctors and specialists during cases and in weekly case discussions
- Complete hands-on training modules (ultrasound, endoscopy, emergency surgery, critical care)
- Document patient records, treatment plans, and communicate clearly with pet owners and team members
- Achieve program competencies and benchmarks to transition to a full-time ER position
Education
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), VMD, or equivalent degree
- Valid state veterinary license in Wisconsin (or ability to obtain by start date)
- Valid DEA registration for the state where training will be completed
