Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician (Relief) - Greenwich, CT

VEG is a rapidly growing, employee-centric emergency veterinary group focused on delivering compassionate, high-quality emergency care. We are seeking a credentialed Emergency Veterinary Technician (relief/per-diem) who is motivated, team-oriented, and experienced in emergency or specialty medicine to provide nursing care, assist with diagnostics and anesthesia, and contribute to a high-performing clinical team.

Skills

  • Credentialed veterinary technician license in Connecticut (CVT/RVT/LVT/LVMT)
  • Proficiency with IV catheter placement, fluid therapy, CRIs and blood transfusion monitoring
  • Anesthesia monitoring and ventilated patient management
  • Experience with point-of-care diagnostics, imaging support, and sample handling
  • Strong clinical decision-making and triage skills in emergency settings
  • Comfort with common veterinary software and basic computer skills
  • Physical ability for prolonged standing, lifting (up to ~25 kg independently, 40 kg with assistance), and manual dexterity for clinical tasks

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient-centered basic to advanced nursing care, monitoring, and treatments for emergency and inpatient cases
  • Triage incoming patients using physical assessment and monitoring parameters
  • Administer subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous medications and manage IV fluid therapy including CRIs and blood transfusions
  • Perform and assist with diagnostics including sample collection, point-of-care testing, and diagnostic imaging
  • Set up and manage oxygen therapy, oxygen cages, and other respiratory support
  • Induce and monitor anesthesia, including advanced vascular access and ventilated patients as needed
  • Perform advanced procedures (jugular catheters, intraosseous access, paracentesis, ultrasound) per training and protocols
  • Participate in patient rounds, formulate and follow treatment/anesthetic plans, and maintain continuity of care
  • Coach and support veterinary assistants and technicians, and contribute to training and quality standards

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Credentialed veterinary technician certification (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) required
  • Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) encouraged and will receive additional consideration
