This instructional aide teaching support position is located at the prestigious University of Texas Elementary School (UTES) in downtown Austin, Texas. This 194 days (traditional school calendar) position is from August 1st to May 31. The University of Texas Elementary School is a public charter school and follows all state and federal regulations for public school services. UTES is a part of the University of Texas at Austin’s College of Education. A candidate for this position will need to have a level III Educational Aide certification or be willing to complete within the first 90 days of employment. Salary will be spread over 12 months.
Assist classroom teacher with instruction and behavior management.
Experience working with children or adults who have special needs. Ability to work and interact with students with significant mental and physical disabilities. Knowledge of special skills required to work with students having special needs. Ability to demonstrate patience while working with students. Excellent human relations skills. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to work as a team. Good oral and written communication skills. Educational Aide I Certificate from the State Board for Educator Certification within one year of employment. High School Diploma or GED equivalency.
At least two years of experience working with special needs students. Educational Aide II or III Certification preferred.
$32,592 + depending on qualifications (Note: This is a 10 month calendar position. The salary will be spread over 12 months.)
