This hourly position will provide support to the plant genomics research activities conducted by Principal Investigator (PI) Dr. Thomas Davis, Emeritus Professor, Department of Agriculture, Nutrition, and Food Systems, at UNH. Most of the work will be bioinformatic in nature, allowing the work to be done remotely. The successful candidate for this position (already identified) will have and apply advanced skills in bioinformatics relevant to plant genomic research. The work needs will vary from week to week, necessitating hourly time submission by the employee and approval by Dr. Davis. Given the flexibility in work hours, this position would not qualify as “essential staff”.

Duties/Responsibilities

• (80%) Analyses of genomic DNA sequence information will be applied for the purpose of understanding the genetic nature of traits of interest in agronomic plants. Preparation of data for reporting and publication purposes. Can be performed remotely.

• (20%) Initiation and maintenance of in vitro plant cultures for purposes of plant genetic manipulation. Must be done on site.

• Employee must have a minimum of a Master’s degree with emphasis of bioinformatics and plant genetics, and some subsequent professional experience in one or both of these areas.
