Overview:
We are seeking a Full-Stack Developer to join our early-stage startup team in New York. This is a unique opportunity to be one of the first engineers on the team, working directly with the founders to shape both the product and the technical foundation of the company. The ideal candidate is hands-on, entrepreneurial, and comfortable moving quickly in an environment where decisions have a direct impact on the future of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, build, and maintain customer-facing mobile applications using React Native (JavaScript/TypeScript) or native iOS/Android (SwiftUI, Objective-C, Kotlin).
Develop backend services and APIs to support distributed, scalable applications.
Architect, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) to support growth and reliability.
Contribute to architectural decisions, including system design for scalability, security, and fault tolerance.
Establish engineering best practices, including testing, CI/CD, and monitoring.
Work across the stack — from mobile interfaces to backend services and infrastructure.
Collaborate closely with the founding team on product direction, roadmap, and customer feedback.
Take ownership of projects end-to-end, balancing speed of execution with technical excellence.
Qualifications:
4+ years of professional software development experience (startup or high-growth company experience strongly preferred).
Proficiency in mobile application development with React Native.
Backend experience with one of the following:
Node.js (JavaScript/TypeScript)
Spring Boot with Java or Kotlin
Golang (Go)
Strong experience designing, deploying, and operating production systems on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Familiarity with distributed systems concepts, scaling strategies, and fault tolerance.
Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in an early-stage, high-ownership environment.
Excellent communication skills and willingness to collaborate directly with founders and customers.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with GraphQL or other modern API frameworks.
Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation).
Experience with performance optimization and observability in production systems.
