Electrical Engineer - job 1 of 2

Endurance Energy | Seattle, WA

Endurance is developing modular seafloor geothermal power plants that harness the vast thermal energy beneath the ocean floor to provide gigawatts of clean, reliable energy. We're addressing the critical power bottleneck facing AI infrastructure development while creating a path toward energy independence and decarbonization across the globe.

Backed by premier venture capital firms including First Round Capital and Point72 Ventures, our exceptional founding team includes veterans from SpaceX (Dragon and Starship programs) and Neuralink, with specialized expertise in complex thermal and fluid systems.

We're seeking a talented Electronics Engineer to join our team at our headquarters in Seattle, where you'll help design and develop critical power systems for our revolutionary seafloor generators.

The Role

As a Senior Electronics Engineer at Endurance, you'll be a key early member of our team, helping establish the core electrical architecture that will power our cutting-edge technology. You'll select, adapt, and implement commercial solutions for power conditioning, instrumentation, control, and communications that can operate reliably in one of Earth's most extreme environments. This role focuses primarily on systems engineering and the integration of proven components into robust, field-ready systems, but also requires the flexibility and entrepreneurial mindset essential to an early-stage startup. You'll work across multiple domains and help shape the foundation of our electrical systems as we grow.

Your first project will be developing the electrical system for our 100kW "Adelie" Class pilot unit. It is a self-contained power generation system that converts hydrothermal fluid into electricity to validate our core technology. You'll lead the design of a robust control system that manages the supercritical CO₂ power cycle under variable hydrothermal conditions, ensuring safe operation from startup through steady-state generation to shutdown. Additionally, you'll develop the data acquisition and transmission system that allows us to monitor the unit during its deployment. This system will collect comprehensive performance data and reliably transmit it to our surface buoy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform systems engineering, integration, and operational tasks for Endurance power generation systems

  • Select, integrate, and adapt commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components for seafloor power systems

  • Develop system architectures that integrate power, control, and communication systems

  • Configure and test sensor networks and control systems for reliable operation under high pressure and temperature conditions

  • Implement data transmission solutions between seafloor equipment and surface vessels/shore stations

  • Build and execute validation procedures for integrated seafloor electrical systems

  • Execute walkdowns and support hardware troubleshooting in the field

  • Support business development activities including supplier meetings, technical presentations, and customer interactions

  • Help establish electrical engineering standards, processes, and documentation for future team growth

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline

  • 3+ years of experience in hardware design, manufacture, assembly, test and/or deployment

  • Experience designing, building, testing, and deploying electronic hardware

  • Ability to act and execute in a scrappy and entrepreneurial manner

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with systems integration and component selection

  • Background in industrial or marine electrical systems

  • Experience integrating sensors and instrumentation for harsh environments

  • Familiarity with ruggedized electronics and environmental protection standards

  • Knowledge of communication protocols for remote monitoring systems

  • Hands-on approach to testing and troubleshooting integrated systems

Benefits & Perks

  • Global Fieldwork: Travel to fascinating deployment sites along oceanic ridges in locations like the Pacific Northwest, Hawaii, Iceland, Japan, New Zealand, and the Azores

  • Hands-on Experience: Participate in sea trials and deployment operations in partnership with leading oceanographic institutions

  • Cutting-Edge Development: Work with technology that spans high-power electronics, marine systems, and clean energy

  • Impact-Driven Work: Help solve one of the world's most pressing challenges - clean, reliable power generation

  • Competitive Compensation: Comprehensive salary and equity packages

  • Benefits: Vision, Dental, Health insurance coverage

  • Dive Certification: Company-sponsored recreational dive certification PTO: Unlimited (with advanced notice)

This role has a compensation range of $150,000 -$200,000 base salary.

Endurance is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
