Job details

Manufacturing Engineer (Process, Test & NPI Development)

Tutor Intelligence builds advanced robotic systems that automate complex, repetitive work — from warehouse operations to manufacturing environments. We’re a fast-growing team of brilliant engineers and operators passionate about creating reliable, scalable automation that blends hardware, software, and human insight.

As we scale production and deployment, we’re looking for a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer who thrives at the intersection of design, production, and field reliability — someone who loves to build, fix, and improve everything they touch.

Why This Role Is Special

You won’t be stuck on a single line or behind a screen. You’ll design fixtures, write test procedures, own the build process, and see your work deployed in live robotic systems across the country.

You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with design engineers, manufacturing techs, and field teams to make every robot more reliable, repeatable, and easy to build. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role where your decisions directly affect production quality, uptime, and customer success.

What you will own
  • Process Design & Continuous Improvement
  • Define and optimize assembly and test processes for robotic subassemblies.
  • Author and maintain build documentation, work instructions, and QA checklists.
  • Own configuration control and BOM accuracy within First Resonance ION.
  • Identify process bottlenecks, propose DFM/DFA improvements, and track results.
  • Test & Fixture Development
  • Design and build fixtures, jigs, and calibration setups to streamline production.
  • Develop automated or semi-automated test stations for repeatable QA.
  • Collaborate with software and electrical engineers to capture and analyze test data.
  • Improve test coverage, yield, and diagnostic speed across product lines.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • Support prototype and pilot builds, ensuring smooth transition from engineering to production.
  • Validate build methods and test procedures for new subsystems.
  • Provide DFM/DFA and serviceability feedback to design teams.
  • Build the documentation and tooling that enable scalable manufacturing.
  • Field & Reliability Engineering Support
  • Travel to customer sites for troubleshooting, upgrades, and beta installations.
  • Perform on-site root cause analysis and feed improvements back into production.
  • Support field teams with diagnostics, test procedures, and fixture design.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • 1–4 years of experience in manufacturing, test, or process engineering (internships count).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with wiring, pneumatics, and sensors.
  • Able to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Proficient with hand tools, test equipment, and metrology instruments.
  • Excellent documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel 25–40% for site support and upgrades.

Preferred Skills
  • Experience designing fixtures and tooling in SolidWorks or Onshape.
  • Familiarity with IP, Modbus, or CAN bus communication protocols.
  • Comfort with Linux/CLI for log retrieval and basic test scripting.
  • Understanding of PLC/HMI logic and I/O testing.
  • Exposure to Lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement methodologies.

What’s In It for You
  • Own real systems: Your fixtures, processes, and test setups will be used across every build.
  • See your impact fast: Rapid iteration cycles — your improvements ship to production and customer sites within weeks.
  • Cross-functional exposure: Work directly with design, software, and field teams.
  • Growth path: Build the foundation to advance into Senior Manufacturing Engineer, NPI Engineer, or Process Development Lead roles.
  • Modern tools: Work inside First Resonance ION — a modern, data-driven factory OS.
  • Startup culture: High trust, high impact, low bureaucracy.

At Tutor Intelligence, you’ll join a team of brilliant engineers, makers, and operators building the next generation of intelligent automation. Our systems are already transforming warehouse operations — and we’re expanding into advanced manufacturing, where reliability, speed, and human–robot collaboration are redefining what’s possible.

If you’re looking for a role where your ideas are heard, your work ships fast, and your team genuinely loves solving hard problems together — you’ll feel at home here.

Come help us build the future of automation.

Apply today and start shaping what’s next.
