At Tiger Data, formerly Timescale, we empower developers and businesses with the fastest PostgreSQL platform designed for transactional, analytical, and agentic workloads. Trusted globally by thousands of organizations, Tiger accelerates real-time insights, drives intelligent applications, and powers critical infrastructure at scale. As a globally distributed, remote-first team committed to direct communication, accountability, and collaborative excellence, we're shaping the future of data infrastructure, built for speed, flexibility, and simplicity.
Build the next generation of technical education for a developer-first product, built for the future of AI and data infrastructure.
At Tiger Data 🐯, we believe docs and education are product. We’re looking for a Staff Developer Educator who can help us reinvent how developers learn, build, and grow with our platform. This is a senior individual contributor role (reporting to the Head of Developer Advocacy & Docs), but it’s not just about shipping content — it’s about setting strategy, leading big bets, and scaling a modern, AI-aware approach to documentation and learning.
If you’ve ever wished you could tear down the old model of “docs as a support function” and rebuild it for a world of agents, self-serve learning, and async-first technical exploration — this is your playground.
This is not a reactive ticket-taker role. It’s a high-impact, high-trust seat at the table to help architect a docs and education experience that makes developers wildly successful, whether they’re building local or global, simple or deeply technical.
📍This is a remote role. North America location is a requirement due to team collaboration and time zone coverage.
Designing and scaling a modern documentation and education experience — think learning paths, enablement guides, and AI-optimized content.
Building hands-on content like workshops, tutorials, and reference guides — both self-serve and live — that help developers become power users of TigerData.
Playing a key leadership role in evolving and scaling our documentation strategy — alongside a talented team already laying the foundation.
Collaborating across the org — from DevRel and Product to Sales Engineering and Marketing — to ensure content is aligned, impactful, and strategic.
Developing frameworks and workflows that allow developer advocates, engineers, and other subject matter experts to contribute effectively.
Treating docs as a product: thinking deeply about developer workflows, discovery, onboarding UX, and lifecycle learning — not just content.
Using AI tools where appropriate to accelerate content creation and analyze patterns in usage, gaps, or opportunities.
Thinking critically about what the next generation of developer education looks like — not just for humans, but for AI agents, copilots, and autonomous systems.
Have 7+ years of experience in technical education, developer documentation, developer advocacy, or developer experience roles.
Have written, shipped, and scaled high-quality developer content — including tutorials, reference docs, enablement decks, and product walkthroughs.
Know what “docs as product” means and have strong instincts for how to design content that drives product adoption.
Have strong hands-on experience with databases, particularly PostgreSQL — you should be comfortable beyond simple queries, understanding concepts like query optimization, indexing strategies, and working with time-series data. (TimescaleDB experience is a bonus, but deep Postgres knowledge is what matters.)
Are deeply familiar with product-led growth, self-service onboarding, and open source-first go-to-market strategies.
Can operate at altitude and in the weeds — you can define the strategy and write the Markdown.
Are naturally collaborative and work well with cross-functional partners like Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales Engineering.
Are AI-curious and excited to help shape how our docs support not just developers, but intelligent agents.
Are motivated by impact, not oversight, and thrive in high-autonomy environments.
You’re looking for a structured, reactive role taking tickets from product or engineering.
You prefer to “do what’s always worked” vs. rethinking docs and education from first principles.
You want a rigid structure and established playbook instead of helping invent the new one.
You’re not excited about working in a fast-paced, high-trust, startup environment where priorities can shift quickly.
You’re skeptical of AI’s role in developer education or uninterested in learning how it intersects with our docs strategy.
We respond to every applicant.
We review applications fairly and objectively, and shortlist based on relevant skills and experience.
We ensure clear and timely communication throughout your candidate journey.
We maintain a rigorous interview process with a high bar, designed to give you the opportunity to meet various team members you'll collaborate with across our organization.
