JOB SUMMARY:
The Program Content Specialist, reporting to the Director of Program (Elementary & Early Learning or Older Youth), is responsible for the curation, adaptation, and development of program content, tools, and resources that achieve student impact. This position applies comprehensive knowledge of the organization’s student outcomes and objectives with a strong understanding of grade level strategies to contribute effectively to the content lifecycle, from conception to deployment. The Program Content Specialist is responsible for curating, creating, and refining a range of program materials, ensuring they meet high standards of quality and relevance for field staff to be successful in an expanded learning environment. Additionally, the Program Content Specialist collaborates and partners with the Training and Development specialist to ensure effective and student impact aligned training modules are created and implemented to support regional staff to deliver a program towards student impact and meet organizational goals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Leadership • Understand and comply with specific grant program content regulations and/or compliance. • Create key benchmarks for student learning outcomes and design/curate content to meet those outcomes. • Maintain knowledge and awareness of innovations in student learning/development, project-based learning, universal design, student engagement, classroom management practice, and assessment of outcomes. • Create and execute strategic plans for content development that align with both program objectives and broader educational trends, including integrating innovative teaching methodologies and educational technologies. • Design content that reflects diverse cultural perspectives and meets the needs of multilingual learners, promoting inclusivity and equity within educational materials. • Maintain knowledge of specific grade level behavior management strategies and best practices for students. • Continuously improve program content depending on external needs
Content Development • Curate and create high-quality, relevant content tailored to the specific needs of the program ensuring program alignment with adopted California educational standards and quality standards for expanded learning in California. • Design content that reflects diverse cultural perspectives and meets the needs of multilingual learners, promoting inclusivity and equity within educational materials. • Develop content across diverse subject areas including STEM, Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA), and Physical Education, with a focus on enhancing academic achievement and aligning with curriculum standards. • Continuously assess and refine content based on external feedback, observations, and evolving program needs to ensure relevance and effectiveness to achieve student outcomes. • Create and implement assessment tools and rubrics to evaluate the effectiveness of the content and its impact on student learning outcomes, ensuring continuous improvement. • Design and produce a comprehensive menu of program materials, including units, lessons, curriculum, instructional videos, and tools across various grade levels and standardized formats. • Create menu of diverse (broad range) program content, grade-level, and standardized content (units, lessons, curriculum, resources, instructional videos, tools.
Content Curation • Review and approve all external vendor content, ensuring that materials are vetted and approved before distribution. • Curate quality, relevant content within specific Program needs and focus. • Modify curated content to align with the program’s format, including integrating Think Together processes and curricula from external vendors. • Adhere to guidelines for sourcing curriculum from external vendors and sustain strategic relationships. • Adapt curated curriculum to program format; Thinkify process and Thinkify curriculum from external vendors. • Follow parameters set for external vendors to source curriculum. • Owns relationship with external vendors. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor’s degree (BA) in education or related field from four-year college or university; or minimum of 3 years’ experience in respective grade level area (elementary & early learning or older youth). • Minimum 1-2 years' experience in education/expanded learning preferred. • Experience in writing curriculum. • Knowledge of universal design for learning and project-based learning. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Excellent work and project organization skills • Detail oriented and ability to adapt and learn new content and technology. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: • Perform all other related duties as assigned. • Well-versed in learning design, project-based learning, and familiar with curricular providers, and educational technology and software opportunities. • Maintain highest degree of confidentiality. • Comply with organization policies and follow procedures. COMPUTER SKILLS: • Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote and Adobe • File Management (One Drive, Box, Dropbox, etc.) • Email, Internet, website, and social media platforms. • Use of typical office equipment
