Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as a Genomics Technician in the Cytogenetics department. Here, you will conducts microscopic examination of cellular samples, interprets gynecologic cellular samples within normal limits, and provides preliminary cytologic interpretation for non-gynecologic and abnormal gynecologic specimens. Assists with specimens adequacy assessment during procedures and responsible for quality control and instrument maintenance. This department is the Cytogenetics Laboratory. This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.
Eligible for a Sign-On Bonus up to $1,500
Perform pre-analytic molecular diagnostics or cytogenetics procedures including receiving, accessioning, and preparing specimens for clinical testing. Isolates DNA on a wide variety of specimen types and/or performs tissue culture procedures. Assists in equipment maintenance, QC procedures, maintaining laboratory databases, filing, ordering supplies and other supportive technical and clerical duties. May perform some kit based molecular assays or additional cytogenetics procedures as assigned.

In this role, we anticipate that you will generally work approximately 40 hours per week. We anticipate that you will generally be scheduled to work the Day shift, from approximately 9:00 am-5:30 pm and will not be scheduled for on-call shifts. We anticipate you will be scheduled to work 100% at the Hyde Park campus. The days of the week that you are scheduled will vary in the week, but we expect you to work weekends, (Saturday and Sunday) every 4th weekend.
