Immigration Attorney - USCIS - job 1 of 2

The United Firm is a client-focused immigration law firm with a strong record of results and growth. We are seeking an admitted immigration attorney to manage a caseload of USCIS and removal defense matters, collaborate with our immigration team, and represent clients in EOIR and USCIS proceedings.

Skills

  • Experience in removal defense and EOIR proceedings
  • Preparation of family-based petitions and USCIS applications
  • Strong legal research and brief-writing abilities
  • Client counseling and courtroom advocacy
  • Familiarity with case management software
  • Ability to conduct detainee intake and visit detention centers
  • Professional interpersonal and team collaboration skills

Responsibilities

  • Develop case strategy and prepare clients/witnesses for USCIS testimony and immigration court proceedings
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Manage a personal caseload and client communications from intake through resolution
  • Visit detention centers and conduct intakes with detained individuals
  • Prepare and file immigration applications including family-based petitions, humanitarian petitions, citizenship, and removal defense filings
  • Review and revise immigration application packets and legal briefs
  • Present and coordinate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations on immigration law updates
  • Provide legal analysis and strategic guidance to potential and existing clients

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree
  • Active admission to the bar (Puerto Rico or other U.S. jurisdiction)
  • Authorized to practice before USCIS and EOIR
