Responsibilities
- Develop case strategy and prepare clients/witnesses for USCIS testimony and immigration court proceedings
- Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals
- Manage a personal caseload and client communications from intake through resolution
- Visit detention centers and conduct intakes with detained individuals
- Prepare and file immigration applications including family-based petitions, humanitarian petitions, citizenship, and removal defense filings
- Review and revise immigration application packets and legal briefs
- Present and coordinate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations on immigration law updates
- Provide legal analysis and strategic guidance to potential and existing clients
Education
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree
- Active admission to the bar (Puerto Rico or other U.S. jurisdiction)
- Authorized to practice before USCIS and EOIR
