The Legal Intern position offers an opportunity for 2L law students to gain hands-on experience in a variety of legal issues within the cybersecurity industry through a paid 13-week internship.

Responsibilities: Interns will assist in reviewing, analyzing, and negotiating contractual documents, perform legal research, and support the Legal department in various projects related to commercial law, intellectual property, data privacy, and compliance.

Skills: Candidates should have research experience using legal platforms like Westlaw, excellent communication skills, proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and the ability to multitask and innovate.

Qualifications: Applicants must be enrolled as a 2L student in an ABA-accredited law school with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and preferably in the top 25% of their class.

Location: The internship requires working 4 days a week at the Clearwater, FL office, with some responsibilities that may allow remote work; however, it is not fully remote.

Compensation: $24 - $24 / Hourly

This position is a hybrid role open to candidates in the greater Tampa Bay area. This position will require the intern to work in our Clearwater, FL office 4 days a week (Monday - Thursday).

Dates of Program: May 18th, 2026 - August 14, 2026 (13 weeks)

As a Legal Summer Associate, you will work with the KnowBe4 Legal department on a wide variety of issues in the cybersecurity industry including, but not limited to, commercial law, intellectual property, data privacy, regulatory and compliance, and employment and labor matters. In addition, you will be tasked with assisting and supporting the Legal department with drafting, analyzing, reviewing, and negotiating contractual documents as well as various research projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with reviewing, analyzing and negotiating a wide variety of contractual documents, including non-disclosure agreements, customer agreements, data protection agreements, professional services agreements and reseller agreements 
• Assist with reviewing, analyzing and negotiating supplier agreements, including those related to operations, marketing, production, IT, human resources, etc.
• Assist with any intellectual property, trademark or copyrights issues as needed 
• Shadow attorneys in a wide array of legal and business matters, including in the negotiation of contracts and counseling business clients
• Assist with labor and employment law research regarding developing case law and impacts on the company
• Support the continuous improvement of standard form agreements and internal legal processes including further development of playbooks and policies/procedures 
• Assist with due diligence efforts for M&A and other strategic transactions as may be applicable
• Research new technology and legal industry techniques to make Legal department systems and documents more efficient
• Research developing cybersecurity and data privacy laws in relation to new evolving technology in the work space, including Artificial Intelligence
• Complete projects related to cybersecurity and data privacy as assigned
• Research varying subject matters that affect the company and its global affiliates

Learning Objectives:

• Improve ability to balance the interests of the business with legal risk
• Learn what different types of in-house lawyers do at a cybersecurity organization and get their perspectives on their job

Internship Opportunities/Experiences:

• Legal Summer Associate will have a formal mentor and may participate in organized activities, leadership training and local community service projects to understand the company culture and career opportunities

Training:

• Legal Summer Associate will assist with various tasks involving commercial contracts, international legal matters, labor and employment matters, intellectual property matters, data privacy, regulatory and compliance matters, and corporate governance & policies. 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Research experience using Westlaw or PLI
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential with the ability to positively interact with persons at all levels of our organization
• Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint 
• Proficient in the use of legal research software platforms
• Talent for multi-tasking, being results oriented and organizationally proficient
• Team oriented and willing to help others to achieve success 
• Ability to develop creative solutions
• Ability to think and act independently 
• Ability to deal professionally, courteously and tactfully with external partners and coworkers 
• Self-reliant with the ability to innovate and introduce change showing sound judgment and pragmatism
• Transactional experience is a plus

Education:

• Must be enrolled as a 2L student at the time of application in an ABA law school with excellent academic credentials
• Preferred top 25% of class in law school
• An official transcript may be required upon request
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 is required
• Recent graduates will not be eligible for this program

The pay for this position ranges from $24.
