POSITION SUMMARY: As the Men's Basketball Assistant Coach, this position include assisting the head coach with the organization and implementation of practice plans and on-court instruction, developing game-day strategies and tactical planning, assessing and recruiting prospective student-athletes, and creating scouting reports. Additional responsibilities include supporting player communication and feedback, overseeing team equipment, assisting with the management of social media accounts, and coordinating camp and clinic operations. The assistant is also expected to conduct film breakdown and scouting while ensuring compliance with college, SCIAC, and NCAA Division III rules and procedures. The department is particularly interested in candidates who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and who can contribute to fostering an inclusive and supportive team environment.
ADDITIONAL DEPARTMENT DUTIES:
QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience required; previous playing or coaching experience is required.
REQUIRED HOURS AND POSITION DETAILS: Must be available for extensive weekend and evening hours during the season. Travel will be required.
POSITION DETAILS: This is a part-time, non-exempt, temporary position that is not eligible for benefits. Hours will vary throughout the year and are within a range of 15-35 hours expected during the competitive seasons. All staff positions are ineligible for visa or permanent resident card sponsorship. As a California employer, Pomona College requires all employees to be residents of California.
HOURLY RATE: The hourly rate for this role is $16.50 The specific factors that the College will consider when offering a salary to an individual will include, but not be limited to: education, training, relevant prior experience, and performance in prior roles.
