Department Description 

This position is within our Data Science & Artificial Intelligence (DS&AI) team which delivers solutions at the intersection of management consulting, data science and advanced technology, to drive enterprise value creation for private equity backed companies. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage in high-impact projects across diverse industries in the middle-market, combining Teragonia's deep experience in Private Equity value creation, and expertise in analytics engineering and AI. 

Job Summary 

We are seeking a highly motivated entry level AI/ML Engineers to join our team. You will play a crucial role in researching, developing, and implementing cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities within the Decision Intelligence Platform we have been developing. You will collaborate with Teragonia's multidisciplinary team of data scientists, management consultants, analytics engineers, data engineers, software engineers, and UI/UX experts to design, develop and scale AI capabilities within the platform. 

This role focuses on helping business users interact with enterprise data models and machine learning optimization models in natural language, while enabling technical users to efficiently develop robust and scalable enterprise data models by automating challenging problems such as database schema matching and exploratory data analysis. 

Key Responsibilities

    • Core Development: Independently develop and implement AI models and algorithms; mentor junior team members in AI solution development for Teragonia's product.
    • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, data scientists, and analytics engineers, to enhance AI/ML components in the Decision Intelligence Platform.
    • Cloud Engineering: Design and implement cloud-based machine learning solutions using GCP and other platforms for efficient and scalable deployment.
    • Data Preparation: Lead data collection, cleaning, and preprocessing efforts to ensure high-quality inputs for AI solution development, enabling accurate outputs.
    • LLM Development: Own parts of the lifecycle from ideation to production and deployment of domain-specific and fit-for-purpose open-source or API-based Large Language Models (LLMs).
    • Model Tuning: Implement and fine-tune LLMs for specific use cases, focusing on parameter optimization and prompt engineering.
    • Model Performance: Design monitoring systems for AI model performance; analyze metrics and implement improvements based on user feedback.
    • Ethical AI: Advocate for ethical AI practices, ensuring compliance with industry standards and addressing potential biases in AI systems.
    • Product Integration: Understand Teragonia's Decision Intelligence Platform and develop AI applications and features that enhance customer value.
    • Technical Growth: Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in AI; experiment with new approaches to improve systems and develop innovative solutions.
    • Team Learning: Lead and participate in discussions and knowledge-sharing sessions to enhance technical expertise and contribute to team innovation.

Necessary Qualifications 

  • Educational Background:
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Machine Learning, Data Science, AI, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • Experience:
    • 0-2 years of experience in AI/ML engineering roles.
    • Experience in training, evaluating, and deploying models in production environments.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong proficiency in Python and software engineering best practices.
  • Other Attributes:
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
    • Self-motivated with strong project management capabilities

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Technical Expertise:
    • Expertise with vector databases and embedding models.
    • Hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX).
    • Proficiency with standard NLP toolkits and libraries (e.g., HuggingFace, spaCy).
    • Working knowledge of LangChain, LlamaIndex, or other LLM-centric frameworks.
    • Experience implementing and fine-tuning Large Language Models (LLMs)
    • Strong understanding of data processing pipelines and ETL processes
    • Experience with GPU optimization, parallel processing, or running models on distributed clusters
    • Background in designing and deploying chatbots or conversational AI interfaces
    • Prior work in generative AI (e.g., custom LLM solutions, text-to-image models)
    • Experience with the end-to-end AI product development lifecycle
    • Knowledge of Snowflake data warehousing and advanced GCP services (BigQuery, AI Platform)
  • Domain Knowledge:
    • Familiarity with financial services or other data-sensitive industries
    • Experience working with regulated data
    • Understanding of decision intelligence solutions and analytics tools
    • Prior experience in consulting or professional services environments
  • Optional Certifications:
    • Industry certifications such as Google Professional Machine Learning Engineer or AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty
    • Training or certification in AI ethics or responsible AI practices
  • Other
